The best sponsors were already in the member list

A hypothesis stated at the first meeting, confirmed four months later: clubs look for partners outside while the most receptive ones are already inside.

LinkedIn sequence — invitation and two follow-ups

01 · context

Where they started

A club with 608 members, six staff, forty years of history. Long-standing sponsors, but vague contracts, unmanaged and untouched for years.

No structured approach, no sales material, an unused LinkedIn account. One person on the subject, mid-career change, with no particular taste for selling — which is exactly what made the project interesting.

02 · what we did

Our work

  • 01
Look for the pool where it actually isThe hypothesis set at kickoff: a club's first sponsors are its own business-owner members. Four months later, the most advanced conversations were indeed with members.
  • 02
Put a number on what's being soldOffer structured into packages, with an equivalent media value method. A club isn't selling a banner, it's selling exposure that can be priced.
  • 03
A sequence built with the client, not for herInvitation and two follow-ups, personalisation variables, calibrated timing. Tone decided together: apologetic phrasing removed, pricing pushed out of the opening messages.
  • 04
Build autonomy rather than dependenceThe client now runs her own tracking file and follow-ups, and requalifies rejections for the next season. She asks prospects directly for the right internal contact.

Practices involved

Growth, LinkedIn side. This project shows an outbound channel doesn't need a tooling budget to produce — it needs accurate targeting and a legible offer.

The sales side really isn't my thing. If I want to be credible, I need to be comfortable and know where I'm going. This was the best way to get there.
